Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh el-Hefny, and Senegal’s Ambassador to Egypt, Kimoko Diakite, and his accompanying delegation, discussed on Tuesday ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in various civil aviation activities, supporting broader strategic partnership between Egypt and African nations.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the ministry’s Permanent Undersecretary Amr Nagati and Director General of International Relations Lamia Sami, Minister el-Hefny stressed the solid commitment to enhancing co-operation with African partners, in line with Egypt’s political leadership directives to deepen integration across the continent and provide technical support and expertise to African countries.

He also highlighted Egypt’s readiness to offer technical assistance to Senegal and share expertise in key aviation sectors, particularly training, air navigation, airports and aircraft maintenance.

Discussions also covered ways to enhance air connectivity between the two countries through EgyptAir and Air Cairo, reflecting Egypt’s strategy, which aims to expand its flight network, boost air traffic and cargo movement, and promote joint investment.

For his part, Ambassador Diakite commended the longstanding and distinguished relations between Senegal and Egypt.

He also highlighted Egypt’s leading role in advancing regional co-operation and development across Africa.

Diakite said his country looks forward to deepening co-operation and benefiting from Egypt’s expertise, particularly in infrastructure and technical training. He noted in this respect that Senegal is keen to build a strong and sustainable partnership in the aviation sector.
