Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Özlem Fidancı, International Managing Director of Philips, and her accompanying delegation on Saturday.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen co-operation and support efforts to localise medical device manufacturing in Egypt.
Discussions during the meeting covered the latest developments in a project to localise medical device manufacturing. The project aims to expand production capacity and increase local manufacturing.
The meeting also reviewed co-operation between the ministry and Philips on establishing and developing specialised units for the treatment of stroke patients.
The discussions also covered the integration of advanced medical technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve the efficiency of healthcare services and enhance the quality of patient care.
Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting also examined a proposal to introduce remote intensive-care solutions based on models implemented at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute.
Fidancı reaffirmed Philips’ commitment to increasing its investments in Egypt. She said the company looked forward to leveraging the country’s potential as an export hub serving African and Middle Eastern markets.
