Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said the opening of a premium tax services centre in New Alamein City and the launch of the Egyptian Tax Authority’s Real Estate Transactions app represent two major steps towards implementing the second phase of the government’s tax facilitation package.

The initiatives also underscore the state’s commitment to digital transformation and its efforts to provide citizens, taxpayers and investors with faster, easier and more efficient services, Kouchouk said.

The minister made the remarks on Wednesday following Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli’s inauguration of the premium tax services centre in New Alamein City.

Kouchouk said the government was committed to turning tax facilitation measures into tangible improvements in the services provided to citizens and taxpayers, through expanding the network of premium tax service centres and further developing digital services to make them more accessible and efficient.

The new centre in New Alamein is part of a nationwide expansion plan aimed at establishing a new model for serving taxpayers and investors.

Kouchouk said the launch of the Real Estate Transactions app marks a further step in the development and digitalisation of tax services for individuals.

The app enables citizens to complete real estate transaction procedures entirely online, including registering transaction details, uploading required documents, paying the applicable tax and obtaining a tax clearance certificate electronically.

The service is designed to save time and effort and minimise the need for citizens to visit tax offices, he said.

Kouchouk stressed, however, that digital transformation should go beyond simply making applications available, with citizens also receiving practical, step-by-step assistance when using online services.

In this regard, the Ministry of Finance is studying the introduction of a service that would allow citizens completing transactions online to speak directly with a specialist by phone for guidance and real-time assistance throughout the process.

“Technology should make people’s lives easier, rather than become a new burden on them,” Kouchouk stressed.

He added that the government was also working to facilitate tax services for Egyptians living abroad, allowing them to complete their tax procedures electronically without having to travel to Egypt.

The government is studying whether such services could be provided through the Real Estate Transactions app or the Real Estate Tax Authority’s digital platforms, ensuring that Egyptians both inside and outside the country can access tax services with the same level of ease and efficiency.

Kouchouk reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising tax administration through technology, simplified procedures and stronger partnerships, while maintaining continuous engagement with citizens and the business community to improve service quality and promote voluntary tax compliance.
