Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gomblatt held talks on Thursday with Moharram Helal, Chairman of the Egyptian Federation of Investors Associations and Institutions and Member of the Supreme Investment Council, and an accompanying delegation at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting comes is in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to boost integration among State institutions and expand co-operation with the private sector, the ministry said in a statement.

As the meeting started, Minister Gomblatt welcomed the delegation, stressing the ministry’s commitment to opening new avenues for industrial and investment partnerships across various sectors.

He said stronger integration between the public, private and governmental sectors would maximise available national capabilities and generate greater added value for the national economy.

The meeting explored mechanisms for strengthening co-operation between military production companies and private-sector investors, deepening local manufacturing, reducing import dependence, meeting domestic market needs, increasing exports and enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of Egyptian industry, the ministry added.

Discussions covered proposals for utilising the manufacturing and technological capabilities of military production companies to establish new partnerships, develop local production inputs and create opportunities to serve domestic and international markets.

The minister highlighted the ministry’s industrial base, comprising 260 production lines, numerous laboratories and testing centres, and more than 700 CNC machines.

He also outlined the ministry’s approach of “manufacturing within manufacturing”, involving the local design and development of production lines and the use of specialised experts and consultants to build integrated national industrial capabilities.

For his part, Chairman Helal lauded the ministry’s national role and affirmed the federation’s commitment to leveraging its manufacturing, technological and technical capabilities to create investment opportunities, strengthen industrial integration and open new export markets.

The two sides agreed that Federation representatives would visit several military production companies to assess their capabilities first-hand and identify areas of mutual interest, paving the way for future industrial and investment partnerships.
