Efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates over the past several months have been crowned with the release of two Egyptian sailors detained aboard the “Reem Al-Bahar” vessel at Iran’s Bandar Abbas Port since January.
The sailors have been safely released from Iran and arrangements have been completed for their return to Egypt.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held high-level contacts with the Iranian side to secure the sailors’ release.
He also instructed the Egyptian Interests Section in Tehran to make every effort to check on their welfare and provide them with all necessary support and assistance.
The mission visited the sailors aboard the vessel, while the ministry’s Consular Affairs Department met with their families and kept them informed of the latest developments.
Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Haddad El-Goharyalso met with the sailors’ families at the Foreign Ministry to brief them on the ministry’s efforts, which resulted in the sailors’ release and the completion of arrangements for their return to Egypt.
Before leaving Iran for Cairo, the head of the Egyptian Interests Section in Tehran met with the sailors to check on their condition and provide them with further support and assistance.
