Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade announced that the Export to China event resulted in 17 export contracts worth $168 million, covering products such as linen and textile yarns, leather, copper and aluminium, sugarcane and oranges.

The event, jointly organised with China’s Ministry of Commerce, brought together 16 Chinese importers and around 40 Egyptian exporters across agriculture, food, minerals, engineering, leather and textiles.

Investment Minister Mohamed Farid stressed that the ministry is working to expand market access for Egyptian products and broaden the base of exporting companies, moving from promotion to direct, sustainable relationships with international buyers.

Assistant Minister Abdelaziz El‑Sherif highlighted efforts to diversify exports to China and maximise benefits from Chinese initiatives, including Belt and Road, FOCAC, and BRICS cooperation. He noted the opportunity presented by China’s decision to exempt African exports from customs duties for two years starting May 2026.

Trade Commissioner Sayed Fouad confirmed that the contracts reflect effective coordination between Egypt’s commercial representation, the Chinese embassy in Cairo, and the Egyptian Exporters Association, turning trade opportunities into actual deals.

This outcome underscores Egypt’s push to boost exports, strengthen economic ties with China, and attract Chinese investment.
