Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production hosted on Monday South Korea’s Ambassador to Egypt Kim Wan Joong, and an accompanying delegation for talks on expanding industrial and technological co-operation, as part of efforts to localise advanced manufacturing technologies and strengthen domestic production.

The delegation toured two state-owned defence manufacturing facilities-  the Armoured Production and Repair Factory (Factory 200), and Abu ZaabalEngineering Industries Company (Factory 100) -to review their production capabilities and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

At Factory 200, the delegation viewed armored vehicle production, assembly and maintenance lines, including the Raad 200 multiple rocket launcher, the Sina 200 armoured vehicle and the Sina 806 recovery vehicle.

Ministry officials highlighted the factory’s role in producing, upgrading and maintaining tanks and armoured vehicles for Egypt’s armed forces.

The delegation also visited Factory 100, where it was briefed on the production of heavy and medium artillery, rapidly deployable military bridges, armoured steel and specialty steel used in defence manufacturing.

The company also manufactures civilian engineering products, including steel plates, billet bars, waste recycling equipment and corrosion-resistant water and fuel tanks.

Factory officials said the ministry remains committed to expanding partnerships with international partners, particularly South Korea, to transfer technology, increase local content and support the country’s industrial development strategy.

Kim lauded the advanced manufacturing capabilities and technical expertise demonstrated during the visit.

He voiced South Korea’s interest in broadening co-operation, exchanging expertise and pursuing new joint industrial and technology projects with Egypt.
