Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati reaffirmed on Wednesday the importance of further strengthening Egyptian-Saudi strategic relations, expanding economic integration and enhancing coordination on regional issues.

Abdel-Aati statements came during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Amman.

During the meeting, Abdel-Aati praised the deep-rooted and distinguished fraternal ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, expressing his aspiration to intensify bilateral co-operation through increased mutual visits and consultation mechanisms.

He also highlighted the importance of convening the first meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Higher Coordination Council and the next round of political consultations at the foreign ministers’ level.

The minister stressed the need to strengthen economic integration between the two countries, particularly in transportation, maritime connectivity, storage, logistics and energy, while building on the outcomes of the first Egyptian-Gulf Trade and Investment Forum to boost bilateral trade and joint investments.

The meeting also reviewed regional developments, including the situation in Iran and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions across the region, as well as the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallf.

He added that both ministers underscored the importance of intensifying Arab and Islamic coordination and continuing efforts to ensure Israel fulfils its obligations and implements the agreed Road Map, paving the way for the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s comprehensive peace plan.

Discussions also covered the latest developments in the Red Sea, Sudan and Yemen, with both sides reaffirming the importance of continued coordination to support regional security and stability.
