Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Coـoperation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdel-Aati, has reaffirmed Egypt’s firm commitment to advancing diplomatic solutions and supporting regional de-escalation efforts.

During a meeting with with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on the sidelines of the Quadrilateral Ministerial Meeting, held in Islamabad on Sunday, the minister also underscored the depth and strength of the longstanding fraternal and strategic relations between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Both ministers reiterated their shared determination to further expand bilateral co-operation across various sectors, in a manner that serves the mutual interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, said the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallf.

He added that the discussions also focused on the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability.

In this context, the two sides emphasised the importance of supporting direct negotiations between the United States and Iran, stressing that diplomatic engagement remains the most effective path to preventing further escalation and safeguarding regional security.

Minister Abdel-Ati further reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, strongly condemning any attacks that threaten their security and stability.

He stressed Egypt’s categorical rejection of any attempts to undermine Arab national security or violate the sovereignty of Gulf nations.

On the Palestinian issue, both ministers highlighted the urgent need to implement the requirements of the second phase of the Trump plan, alongside ensuring an immediate halt to Israeli violations in the West Bank.

They also underscored that achieving a just and comprehensive settlement — through the establishment of the independent Palestinian state along the 4 June 1967 borders — is essential for securing lasting peace and stability in the region.

The meeting also addressed developments in Lebanon amid continued Israeli escalation, with both sides stressing the importance of supporting Lebanese national institutions to enable them to maintain the country’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity.
