Egypt has expressed regret over storming Al Aqsa Mosque by an official at the new Israeli government and extremist elements under the protection of Israeli forces.
A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said that Egypt rejects any unilateral measures that run counter to the legal status of the holy places in Jerusalem.
The statement warned of the negative consequences of the incursion on the security and stability in the occupied lands and the Arab region.
It called on all parties to exercise self-restraint, shoulder responsibility and refrain from any measures that would inflame the situation.
