Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions during talks on Saturday with his Sudanese counterpart, Mohi El-Din Salem.

Abdel-Aati underscored Egypt’s rejection of any parallel entities and reiterated Cairo’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at restoring stability in Sudan, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tamim Khallaf.

The discussions reflected the depth of the historic and fraternal ties between Egypt and Sudan, as well as the two countries’ commitment to maintaining close consultation and co-ordination on issues of mutual concern.

Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of securing a humanitarian truce that would pave the way for a sustainable ceasefire and the resumption of a Sudanese-led political process. He also highlighted the need to ensure humanitarian access to conflict-affected areas, uphold the principle of Sudanese ownership of the political settlement, and support the efforts of the international Quartet to end the conflict and promote stability.

The two ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to boosting bilateral relations and expanding co-operation across a wide range of sectors in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries and their peoples.

For his part, Salem expressed Sudan’s appreciation for Egypt’s support at all levels, praising Cairo’s steadfast position in backing Sudan’s unity and stability.

He also reviewed the Sudanese government’s efforts to address the current challenges facing the country.

Abdel-Aati emphasised the importance of continuing close consultation and co-ordination with Egypt in the period ahead to advance the interests of both nations.
