Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone call on Thursday with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam following the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel.
Salam expressed appreciation—on behalf of the Lebanese government and people—for Egypt’s efforts to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty and support its national interests, which contributed to the ceasefire announcement.
For his part, Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s firm position in support of Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
He also welcomed the US announcement, expressing hope that the ceasefire would help de-escalate tensions and contribute to restoring security and stability in the region.
