Egypt has reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, condemning the attack on a Saudi oil tanker and reiterating its categorical rejection of all attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and means of transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates said in a statement on Saturday.
The ministry also condemned any actions that threaten the security and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and international waterways.
It stressed that safeguarding civilian facilities and vessels, as well as ensuring maritime security and the uninterrupted flow of international shipping, is of paramount importance.
Egypt further renewed its call for full respect for, and protection of, freedom of navigation through all international straits and maritime corridors in the region, emphasising that secure maritime routes are vital to maintaining global trade and supply chains in line with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
