Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, spotlighting the dispatch of the 16th humanitarian convoy to Gaza as part of the country’s sustained relief initiatives.

“Through the General Committee for Foreign Aid, the ministry continues to coordinate and deliver relief convoys in collaboration with all relevant state agencies and international organisations, helping alleviate the humanitarian suffering in Gaza,” Farouk said. He emphasised that these efforts underscore Egypt’s enduring humanitarian role and vowed that “the ministry will continue providing essential aid and dispatching additional convoys in line with Gaza’s evolving humanitarian needs.”

In accordance with directives from Egypt’s political leadership and the nation’s leading role in supporting the Palestinian people, the Ministry of Supply, through the General Committee for Foreign Aid, announced the launch of the 16th urgent relief convoy to Gaza. This operation is conducted in partnership with the Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

The convoy’s preparation followed a comprehensive operational plan, ensuring close coordination with state authorities and CRS based on a detailed assessment of the humanitarian situation and urgent needs within Gaza.

With winter temperatures dropping and the rainy season underway, the CRS office in Gaza requested immediate support, including mattresses, blankets, and mats. In response, the convoy was loaded with 130 tonnes of essential supplies, transported via 22 trucks, to aid residents facing harsh weather conditions.

Sustained humanitarian support to Palestinian communities

Ahmed Fathy, Deputy Chairman of the General Committee for Foreign Aid, described the convoy as a continuation of the committee’s ongoing efforts to provide consistent humanitarian assistance.

To date, coordinated efforts with CRS have delivered a substantial volume of aid, including 74,000 blankets, 53,000 mattresses, 24,000 tents accommodating around 385,000 people, 6,000 plastic sheets for rain protection, 19,000 mats, and various general and personal hygiene items benefiting roughly 45,000 families. These supplies were transported through five aircraft and 277 trucks, totaling nearly 1,900 tonnes of humanitarian aid.

“These convoys convey a heartfelt message of solidarity from the Egyptian people to Gaza and reflect the deep bonds of brotherhood and humanity between Egyptians and Palestinians,” Fathy concluded.
