CAIRO – Egypt ranked the third in the Arab world in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for 2021, with investments hitting about dlrs 5.4 billion, said the Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC).
Egypt accounted for 16.4% of the total investment flows in the Arab region during 2021, added the IDSC.
This came in an infographic published by the IDSC on the FDI in Egypt.
As many as 58 foreign projects were implemented in Egypt during 2021 via 50 foreign companies, said the IDSC, noting that these projects provided about 9,000 new jobs.
Egypt’s capital city Cairo has ranked in the fifth place in terms of the most important cities receiving projects, added the IDSC.
The IDSC, meanwhile, said that New Cairo ranked first in terms of the average size of the investment cost of a project at about dlrs 506 million.
