The Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement (UPA), Dr Hesham Stait, conducted a series of high-level meetings in Japan to advance co-operation in localising medical industries.
The visit aimed to support joint manufacturing and health technology projects with leading Japanese companies, in line with Egypt’s strategic direction to strengthen industrial capacity in the healthcare sector.
The mission aligns with directives from Egypt’s political leadership to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities and establish Egypt as a regional hub serving African healthcare needs.
Stait led a delegation comprising a number of Egyptian pharmaceutical firms, which welcomed Japan’s further engagement with specialised Egyptian companies through upcoming sectoral platforms, including the African Medical Exhibition and Conference scheduled for June.
The discussions included the possibility of adopting elements of the Japanese centralised dialysis model, particularly systems related to water filtration and dialysis solution preparation, which are recognised for their efficiency and high standards of patient care.
