Higher Education Minister and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has announced that Egypt produced over 30 million doses of the effective and safe Sinovac/VACSERA COVID-19 vaccine.

In a press conference on Sunday, Abdel Ghaffar said that the Palestinian Authority was the first to receive some 500,000 doses of this locally-made vaccine.

He added that this shipment of doses were co-manufactured by Egypt’s VACSERA and China’s Sinovac Biotech, noting that the Palestinian Health Ministry authorized the emergency use of this shot.

Abdel Ghaffar stated that the WHO’s mRNA technology transfer to Egypt reflects the world’s confidence in the country’s ability to produce vaccines through its VACSERA.

On his part, Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Liao Liqiang said the shipment delivered to Palestine is an important step toward helping countries fight coronavirus.

Liao added that his country has so far offered some 67 million doses of Chinese vaccines to Egypt, noting that an additional 60 million doses are planned to be delivered this year.

For her part, Nidaa Beiruti, a representative of Palestine, thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for offering 500,000 doses of the Sinovac/VACSERA COVID-19 vaccine to the Palestinian people.

She praised Egypt’s ability to develop vaccines, asserting that this shipment comes as part of Cairo’s efforts to support Palestinians. (MENA)
