EL Alamein — Amid Egypt’s significant advances in advanced technology and aviation, Egyptian company Drone Tech is emerging as a leading national enterprise providing integrated drone solutions and applications across a wide range of vital governmental and private-sector industries.

Supporting national economy

Chairman of Drone Tech, Mohamed Shehata, stated in an exclusive interview with The Egyptian Gazette that the company operates as an authorised distributor of drone technologies and services for civilian applications across Egypt.

He explained that Drone Tech’s engineering services cover aerial surveying, inspection, 3D modelling, and the development of digital twins representing the actual “as-is” condition of assets. These digital models can subsequently support planning, engineering design, asset management, and decision-making.

Shehata added that the company provides advanced inspection solutions for the mining, oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors. These applications include the inspection of flare tips and pipelines, as well as wind turbine blades. The company also provides specialised caged-drone solutions capable of performing internal inspections in confined and difficult-to-access spaces.

Regarding governmental applications, the Chairman explained that Drone Tech provides services to a number of ministries and governmental entities, including the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, through aerial imaging of the River Nile, canals, and drains, as well as applications related to riverbank management, and flood-related activities.

The company also provides drone-based services to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf), the Ministry of Local Development, and several governorates. In addition, Drone Tech contributes to development, land-surveying, and municipal activities in the New Capital.

For his part, Engineering Director of Drone Tech, Eng. Tarek Hassan, elaborated on the company’s vision, explaining that Drone Tech’s services extend across construction, oil and gas, mining, electricity networks, and water and irrigation projects.

He emphasised that the company’s role extends beyond operational services to supporting the Research and Development (R&D) ecosystem through co-operation with Egyptian universities and private-sector organisations. Through these activities, Drone Tech aims to contribute to innovation, develop local capabilities, and support the localisation of drone technologies and research in Egypt.

Tarek added that the company continuously seeks to introduce advanced and integrated technical solutions to the Egyptian market while ensuring compliance with the requirements and approvals of the relevant authorities. He also highlighted the importance of major exhibitions in providing Egyptian engineers and technical professionals with opportunities to demonstrate their expertise and capabilities in emerging technologies.

Evolution of drone technology

Tarek noted that the drone industry is undergoing continuous technological development, with major trends including increased flight endurance, greater payload capacity and improved sensor efficiency.
He also pointed to the growing adoption of hybrid propulsion technologies, combining internal-combustion engines with electric power to extend operational endurance and improve the capabilities of drones used in demanding field applications.

Localising drone industry

In a significant step towards strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional hub for advanced drone technologies, Drone Tech has launched a strategic joint venture with Portugal-based advanced drone specialist Beyond Vision.

In an exclusive statement to The Egyptian Gazette, Business Developer at Beyond Vision, Nuno Baltar, said that the Egypt International Airshow represents an important platform for presenting advanced technologies and solutions to the Egyptian and regional markets.

He praised the organisation of the event, its international participation, and its role in bringing together leading technology companies and high-level delegations. He also highlighted the exhibition’s modern venue and infrastructure as an ideal environment for demonstrating advanced aviation and drone technologies.

Nuno Baltar explained that the partnership with Drone Tech aims to introduce Beyond Vision’s technologies to Egypt while establishing a gradual pathway toward local production and manufacturing.

According to Baltar, the objective is to develop an integrated Egyptian-made drone product capable of serving the Egyptian market and, ultimately, supplying markets across Africa within approximately three years. The localisation strategy is expected to progress gradually, beginning with final assembly and finishing operations and advancing towards increasingly comprehensive local manufacturing and production capabilities.

This approach is intended to build local technical expertise, strengthen the Egyptian industrial base, and contribute to the development of a sustainable regional drone ecosystem.

Drone Tech at EIAS

The 2026 edition marks Drone Tech’s inaugural participation in the Egypt International Air Show, providing the company with an opportunity to showcase its capabilities, technologies, and expanding portfolio of drone applications.
Company officials expressed their ambition to establish an increasingly strong presence at future editions of the event, emphasising the importance of international exhibitions in promoting Egypt’s technological capabilities and connecting Egyptian companies with global partners.

The partnership between Drone Tech and Beyond Vision represents another step toward strengthening Egypt’s position in the rapidly developing unmanned systems sector, while creating new opportunities for technology transfer, local manufacturing, research and development, and the expansion of Egyptian capabilities into African markets.
