Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly left Cairo on Saturday for Angola to represent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at an extraordinary African Union summit on strengthening mechanisms to prevent and resolve conflicts across Africa, the cabinet said.
The summit, being held in the Angolan capital Luanda, will bring together African heads of state and government to discuss peace and security, conflict prevention, crisis resolution and support for countries affected by violence.
The agenda will also include reconstruction and development in post-conflict countries, an issue Egypt considers a priority within the African Union, the statement said.
Madbouly is expected to deliver a speech and hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.
Egypt’s participation reflects its efforts to strengthen its role in addressing Africa’s security challenges, promoting peace and stability, advancing economic integration and developing joint projects across the continent, the statement added.
