Egypt’s House of Representatives approved, by a two‑thirds majority, authorising President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi to take the necessary measures to support and defend Saudi Arabia, its territory and holy sites against any external aggression.

According to a statement issued by the House of Representatives’ General Secretariat, members voted in favour of the authorisation during Monday’s plenary session chaired by Speaker Hisham Badawi.
The approval comes in line with recommendations adopted by the National Defence Council during its session held on 18 October, authorising the President to take the necessary steps to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and safeguard its sovereignty, territory and holy sites against external attacks.
