Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati stressed on Wednesday the importance of following up on the outcomes of his visit to Pakistan last March, expressing his anticipation for the fourth session of the Egyptian-Pakistani Joint Ministerial Committee, to be co-chaired by the foreign ministers, and the tenth round of ministerial-level political consultations.
He also underscored the importance of expanding economic and investment co-operation through business delegations and reciprocal visits between chambers of commerce and industry, highlighting the need to connect Pakistani investors with opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and expressing hope that procedures for establishing the Egyptian-Pakistani Business Council would soon be finalised.
These remarks came during a meeting the minister called on Wednesday with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Mohammad Ishaq Dar on the sidelines of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Manila.
The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The ministers also praised the longstanding historical ties between Egypt and Pakistan, reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding co-operation across the political, economic, trade and investment sectors while exploring new avenues of partnership that serve the interests of both countries and their peoples.
On regional developments, Minister Abdel-Aati expressed Egypt’s appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts, undertaken in coordination with regional partners, which contributed to reaching the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran.
He stressed the importance of adhering to the agreement and creating the necessary conditions for achieving a final and sustainable settlement that would reinforce regional security and stability.
Minister Abdel-Aati also highlighted the importance of building on the outcomes of the four-party regional meeting hosted by Cairo in June 2026 to advance negotiations, narrow differences between the parties and support efforts to promote lasting peace and stability across the region.
