The Lonely Planet global travel guide book publisher, founded in Australia in 1973, has recently revealed the top 50 tourist destinations worth visiting in 2024. Egypt ranks sixth Best Value Destinations.
It said that visitors can enjoy the tombs of Luxor, the Nile, and the pyramids of Giza, and this is because Egypt enjoys an abundance of historical wealth.
It also nominated other tourist sites in Egypt, such as the Sinai Trail and the Red Sea Mountain Trail, which are two hiking trails. It also highlighted the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in 2024, describing it as hopefully the long-anticipated.
The British newspaper The Sun published an article on November 7 entitled ‘No Winter Blues, Where’s hot in February?’ The best winter sun holiday destinations to visit’.
Egypt ranks 5th on its list. The authors recommend visiting Cairo, less than a five-hour flight from London, because in February, its desert climate makes daytime temperatures warm at 21C.
The report added other options for beachgoers and the leisure seekers to go to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada, which “offer endless miles of sandy beaches, where visitors can enjoy eight hours of sunshine each day”.
Egypt aims to double the number of tourists over the next five years, to reach 30 million tourists by 2028.
Egypt’s revenues from tourism jumped to $13.6 billion in the last fiscal year (2022-2023), an increase of 26.8 per cent.
