Egypt has launched a new initiative to identify and develop talented young people, providing them with education, training and career opportunities designed to help them build the skills needed for future leadership roles.
The Ministries of Education, Higher Education and Investment, along with the National Training Academy, signed a co-operation protocol to launch the Presidential Programme for Preparing Egyptian Youth for Leadership.
The initiative is designed to identify, nurture and qualify outstanding Egyptian students aged 13 to 18, creating a comprehensive pathway for talent development from school to university, the labour market, entrepreneurship and postgraduate studies.
The programme aims to equip young Egyptians with advanced knowledge and skills to keep pace with modern technologies, while developing their cultural, artistic and sporting talents.
It will identify gifted students in scientific, technical, leadership and creative fields through objective assessments, while developing their leadership capabilities and social and emotional intelligence to prepare them for future roles.
Opportunities will include scholarships at local universities, links to employment opportunities in the public and private sectors, and nominations for international scholarships and postgraduate programmes.
Target groups include students from STEM schools, technological institutes and schools, as well as high-achieving students from general secondary education and national certificate programmes such as the Baccalaureate and Nile International Certificate.
Implementation will involve nominations, academic and behavioural assessments, aptitude and psychological tests, assessment centres and interviews, culminating in a personalised Talent Profile for each participant.
Training tracks will cover core skills in leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and citizenship, as well as work-readiness programmes for older students and specialised pathways in technical, industrial, academic and leadership fields.
The programme will also enable participants to turn their ideas into innovative projects, products and start-ups.
