Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Kuwait and condemned all attacks targeting its security, stability, and sovereignty.

This reaffrimation was made during a phone call with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah on Sunday.

Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of an immediate halt to all military and escalatory actions, a return to negotiations, and prioritising political and diplomatic solutions to contain rising tensions and preserve regional security and stability.

He also underscored the importance of maintaining the security and stability of the Gulf region as an integral part of Arab national security, while calling for adherence to the principles of good-neighbourliness, respect for state sovereignty, and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries.

During the call, Abdel-Aati conveyed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s greetings and appreciation to Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah.

The Egyptian foreign minister briefed his Kuwaiti counterpart on Cairo’s intensive contacts with regional and international partners aimed at supporting de-escalation efforts and restoring security and stability in the region.

He stressed the need to maintain close co-ordination and consultations between Egypt and Kuwait in the coming period, while continuing to monitor regional developments and support efforts to ease tensions.

The call came as part of ongoing Egyptian-Kuwaiti consultations on regional developments and joint efforts to reduce escalation.

For his part, the Kuwaiti foreign minister praised Egypt’s continued commitment to consulting with Kuwait. He expressed appreciation for Cairo’s firm position in support of Kuwait against attacks targeting its security and sovereignty.
