Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone call on Tuesday with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to coordinate on regional developments.
The two ministers discussed efforts to reduce escalating tensions in the region. Abdel-Aati stressed the need to prioritize diplomacy and warned of the grave consequences of continued violence, which could push the region into wider instability threatening international peace and security.
He reiterated Egypt’s firm condemnation of all attacks targeting Kuwait and Gulf states, affirming Egypt’s full solidarity with its brothers in facing any threats to their security or stability. He emphasized Egypt’s consistent position that Gulf security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security, a stance highly valued by the Kuwaiti side.
Abdel-Aati also expressed appreciation for the swift response of Kuwaiti authorities to a request from the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait. The embassy had submitted a memorandum regarding a controversial article, which was promptly referred to the public prosecutor. Abdel-Aati said this firm legal action reflects the depth of historic ties between Egypt and Kuwait and blocks any attempts to undermine the strong bonds and shared destiny of the two nations.
