Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to expanding electronics and technology industries, boosting local manufacturing and integrating Egyptian products into global supply chains.
The minister made the remarks during a visit to the Arab International Optronics Company on Wednesday, where he reviewed its manufacturing capabilities and technological solutions for infrastructure, energy and smart city projects.
Hashem said electronics, technological solutions and solar energy systems are among the priority industries identified in Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030.
The government is working to increase domestic production capacity in these sectors to meet local demand and boost exports, he added.
During the visit, Hashem inspected factories and production lines covering smart security and surveillance systems, smart lighting poles, energy-efficient lighting, solar panels and systems, electronics, smart meters and specialised medical equipment.
He also toured the company’s laboratories, which are accredited by the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC). The laboratories conduct specialised technical tests and calibrations. It also issues reports in accordance with approved standards and within their accreditation scope.
The minister was briefed on the company’s efforts to develop technical expertise and train skilled workers in electronics manufacturing.
He said Egypt has been working to strengthen its position in advanced technology industries by adopting modern technologies and localising their production.
Established in 1982 as an Egyptian joint-stock company, Arab International Optronics specialises in manufacturing advanced optical equipment and technological systems.
