Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co‑operation and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Friday with Liberian Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations and to exchange views on regional issues of mutual interest.

The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing bilateral co‑operation across various fields, particularly in the areas of economy, trade and development. They emphasised that closer collaboration would reflect the strength of political ties between Egypt and Liberia and serve the shared interests of their peoples.

They also underscored the importance of continued consultations between the two sides and exploring new areas of co-operation, while making use of Egypt’s expertise and capabilities to support Liberia’s development efforts.

The call also covered the latest regional developments in Africa, with particular focus on the situation in Sudan.

The two ministers exchanged views on efforts to promote security and stability and resolve crises through peaceful means, particularly in light of Liberia’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council.

Abdelatty also held a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual concern.

The two ministers explored prospects for further developing the Egypt–Türkiye partnership in the coming period and agreed to continue efforts to strengthen economic, trade and investment co‑operation.

They also reviewed progress in implementing the understandings reached at the inaugural meeting of the High‑Level Strategic Co‑operation Council, held in Cairo in February 2026 under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The ministers stressed the importance of maintaining preparations for the council’s next meeting, scheduled to take place in Türkiye.

On regional issues, the two ministers exchanged assessments of the latest developments and stressed the importance of continued Egyptian-Turkish coordination on the crises facing the region.

They also called for intensified efforts to ease tensions and prevent further escalation, while supporting political and diplomatic efforts to help strengthen regional security and stability.
