Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouq held talks on Friday with a delegation comprising representatives of the “KAFI” programme, the European Union, and the Italian Agency for Development Co-operation on ways to enhance joint co-operation and support Egypt’s agricultural sector.

The meeting reviewed current and future areas of co-operation between the ministry and international development partners, with a focus on projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening food security systems and promoting sustainable agricultural development, in line with Egypt’s vision to improve the efficiency of agricultural production.

The minister underscored the depth of the strategic relations linking Egypt with the European Union and Italy, praising the role of the KAFI programme in supporting Egyptian farmers and developing agricultural value chains.

He also highlighted the importance of agricultural scientific research, represented by the Agricultural Research Centre, in developing innovative solutions to address climate challenges and increase the productivity of strategic crops.

For their part, members of the European and Italian delegation expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture, affirming their commitment to continued technical and financial support for projects that serve sustainable development goals and help ensure the stability of food supply chains.

The delegation included Alice Peslin, the Team Leader for Human Development and Inclusive Growth within the Cooperation Section of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, based in Cairo, Project Manager at the EU Delegation in Egypt Iva Stamenova‏, First Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Cairo Luna Angelini Marinucci and Head of the Italian Agency for Development Co-operation (AICS) office in Cairo Tiberio Chiari, as well as several agency experts, in the presence of Head of the Agricultural Research Center Adel Abdel Azim.
