CAIRO – Egyptian Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea reiterated on Thursday Egypt’s keenness on developing economic co-operation with Bahrain to level up to distinguished political relations binding the two countries.

During an expanded meeting with a delegation of Bahraini Businessmen’s Association led by Ahmed Abdullah bin Hindi, Gamea said there are excellent opportunities for Bahraini businessmen to invest in the Egyptian market and benefit from investment privileges the government provides to businessmen, referring to the possibility of setting up joint investment projects in the industrial, agricultural and retail trade domains.

She added that the volume of trade between Egypt and Bahrain reached 552 million dollars in the first seven months of 2021, underlining the importance of doubling this volume in light of the available potentials and productive capabilities of both countries.

Talks tackled the possibility of setting up a permanent exhibition of Egyptian products in Bahrain and branches of several Bahraini companies in Egypt.

She underlined the importance of activating the role of businessmen associations in both countries to push forward economic co-operation.

Head of Bahraini Businessmen’s Association Ahmed Abdullah bin Hindi underlined the importance of benefitting from the current investment climate in Egypt, unveiling preparations for a visit by Egyptian businessman to Bahrain in February to expound available industrial investment and trade co-operation opportunities.

The Bahraini delegation included 22 heads of major companies.
