Jordanian Minister of Agriculture Khalid AL Hanifat on Tuesday hailed fruitful co-operation between Cairo and Amman in all fields, especially the agricultural ones.
Egypt and Jordan have been upholding co-operation in handling challenges facing palm trees cultivation as well dates production in both countries, the minister said in statements to MENA correspondent.
The agro-coordination between both countries in dates industry has prioritised taping into Egypt’s know-how in this domain, through getting first hand information on methods of combating the palm weevil, which is deemed a key destructive factor for dates industry, minister Hanifat said.
Jordan’s dates production hit 30,000 tons, the minister said, adding that the Arab country’s dates exports recorded 14,000 tonnes, with a total value of $50,000.
