Egypt’s Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk discussed with Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, Fumio Iwai, ways to enhance agricultural co-operation and facilitate exports between the two countries.
Farouk stressed Egypt’s support for private-sector partnerships and invited Japanese firms to expand investments in Egypt’s agricultural sector, highlighting opportunities in major national projects such as the New Delta project.
He also called for increasing Egyptian agricultural exports to Japan, including frozen strawberries and grapes, while emphasising the importance of benefiting from Japanese agricultural technology and expertise.
For his part, the Japanese ambassador said Egypt supplies around 40 per cent of Japan’s frozen strawberry imports, citing growing co-operation in agricultural and food-processing investments between the two countries.
