Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Hussein Eissa, and a high‑level delegation from Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy’s largest banking group, discussed on Sunday expanding co‑operation.
The talks were joined by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid and Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk via video link.
The delegation included Paola Papanicolaou, Head of International Banks at Intesa Sanpaolo, Paolo Vivona, CEO of Bank of Alexandria, and former Deputy PM Ziad Bahaa El‑Din, Non‑Executive Chairman of Bank of Alexandria.
Issa emphasised Egypt’s strategic role as a gateway to Arab and African markets and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting foreign investors and enhancing competitiveness. The Italian group expressed growing interest in Egypt’s market, citing ongoing reforms and its position as a hub for regional economic ties.
The two sides agreed to deepen frameworks for banking and financial collaboration, aiming to expand investment and strengthen Egypt–Italy economic relations.
