An Egyptian-Italian memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the Egyptian Embassy in Rome between Capital University (formerly Helwan University) and Italy’s UniNettuno University (International Telematic University), specialising in communications technology, software, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The MoU aims to promote knowledge transfer, faculty exchange, and student mobility, enabling Egyptian students to study advanced technological fields, including AI, distance learning, communications, and mechatronics.

The signing ceremony was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy, Bassam Rady, and formalised by Capital University President Ibrahim Qandil and UniNettuno President Maria Amata, in the presence of academics and students from both institutions.

Ambassador Rady said the MoU comes in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to strengthen academic pathways in modern sciences such as AI and information and communication technology (ICT).

He noted that engagement with leading Italian universities aims to enable the transfer of expertise and build a skilled generation capable of supporting Egypt’s future economy.

Qandil described the agreement as a step towards enhancing academic and scientific cooperation between Egyptian and Italian universities, opening broader opportunities for collaboration with European Union institutions, including scholarships and funding.

For her part, Amata expressed pride in the partnership, describing Egypt as a stable and culturally close partner.

She added that she looks forward to visiting Egypt to explore establishing an advanced IT centre in cooperation with Capital University.
