Egypt’s Minister of Labour, Hassan Radad, received on Thursday Italian Minister of Labor and Social Policies, Marina Elvira Calderoni, and her delegation to discuss strengthening co-operation in labor, employment, vocational training, skills development, and social insurance, while creating new legal opportunities for Egyptian workers in Italy.

At the outest of the meeting, Minister Radad welcomed the delegation, underscoring the historic Egyptian-Italian partnership.

He also highlighted the significance of holding the meeting in the New Administrative Capital, describing it as evidence of the skill and expertise of Egyptian workers in construction, engineering, and technical fields.

He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to building on this expertise by preparing and training workers according to Italian labor-market requirements, enabling qualified professionals to access safe and legal employment pathways.

Minister Calderoni, for her part, expressed appreciation for Egyptian workers, praising their efficiency and professionalism.

She also commended Egypt’s vocational-training efforts, particularly co-operation with the Salesian Institute “Don Bosco” in Cairo and Alexandria.

She affirmed Italy’s interest in receiving more trained Egyptian workers and stressed that market-oriented vocational training is essential to successful and sustainable labor mobility.

Both sides agreed to accelerate completion of the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries to regulate and facilitate Egyptian employment in Italy. They also agreed to expand specialized technical, linguistic, and cultural training programs tailored to Italian employers’ needs and discussed increasing cooperation with “Don Bosco” to benefit more young people and prospective workers.

Minister Radad proposed exploring a twinning arrangement between an Egyptian Ministry of Labor vocational-training center and an Italian counterpart to exchange expertise, develop curricula, and align training with labor-market demands.

The meeting also addressed a proposed bilateral social-insurance agreement, in co-operation with the National Authority for Social Insurance, to protect Egyptian workers’ rights and address insurance entitlements in Italy.
