Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati has reiterated the country’s commitment to advancing its strategic partnership with Italy and intensifying regional and international efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring stability across the Middle East.

During a telephone talk on Wednesday with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tajani, Minister Abdel-Aati underscored the deep-rooted and distinct ties between the two friendly nations.

He also stressed Egypt’s keenness to further strengthen bilateral co-operation across various sectors and elevate ties to wider horizons.

The Egyptian chief diplomat voiced hopes to continue enhancing economic and investment co-operation and expanding trade exchange between Cairo and Rome.

The discussions also covered the rapidly evolving regional situation, as Abdel-Aati reviewing Egypt’s intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken in coordination with regional and international partners to contain escalating tensions.

He highlighted the importance of supporting ongoing US-Iranian negotiations and advancing efforts towards a political settlement.

He also stressed the need to remain committed to the negotiating track in order to secure understandings among the concerned parties, consolidate the ceasefire, bring an end to the war, and reduce tensions across the region.

On Gaza, Abdel-Aati noted that current regional escalations must not divert attention from the importance of completing all elements of the second phase of the US President’s plan.

He emphasised the need to deploy the international stabilisation force, ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance, and launch early recovery and reconstruction programmes.

Addressing Lebanon, Abdel-Aati reiterated Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon and its categorical rejection of any violation of Lebanese sovereignty or territorial integrity.

He further stressed the necessity of a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the comprehensive and impartial implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

For his part, Italy’s Tajani, commended Egypt’s constructive role and its ongoing coordination with regional and international partners to de-escalate tensions and support regional stability.

The two top diplomats agreed to carry on with the close coordination and consultation during the coming period, while intensifying efforts to reduce tensions and reaffirming that diplomatic solutions remain the most effective path towards enhancing regional and international security and stability.
