Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom met with Ireland’s Ambassador to Cairo, Eoin O’Hara, to explore ways of strengthening economic cooperation and exchanging expertise in priority areas aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The talks focused on renewable energy, development finance, entrepreneurship, technology, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises. Both sides also discussed advancing collaboration in the green transition, particularly Egypt’s efforts to expand clean energy use, as well as cooperation in export credit under the framework of Egypt’s partnership with the OECD.
Rostom reviewed Egypt’s improving economic indicators, supported by ongoing reforms, and stressed the government’s determination to boost local production, attract investment, and expand the role of the private sector in shaping the country’s development future. He noted that new reforms and incentives will be introduced to drive growth in real economy sectors, strengthen supply chains for strategic goods and medicines, and improve living standards.
The minister highlighted Egypt’s interest in deepening cooperation with Ireland, especially as Ireland prepares to assume the presidency of the European Union, which is expected to open new opportunities for joint economic engagement with Europe.
Both sides agreed to continue consultations and translate discussions into concrete action plans, with intensive coordination at the technical level in priority sectors.
