Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture Abdelaziz Konsowa on Sunday inaugurated a number of educational and medical projects at Suez University, alongside Suez Governor Hani Rashad and University President Ashraf Hanigel.

The projects, with a combined cost of LE1.722 billion, include a new student accommodation facility and the first phase of the university hospital.

The student residence at the Future City campus covers 2,200 square metres and comprises 146 rooms accommodating 400 students. It was built at a cost of LE474 million.

Konsowa also inspected the university hospital, which has 110 beds, 19 outpatient clinics, 22 dialysis units, 18 neonatal incubators and five specialised operating theatres. Built at a cost of LE1.248 billion, the hospital also features advanced laboratories and medical imaging facilities.

The minister praised the university’s efforts to expand its academic, research and service infrastructure, stressing that such projects would help strengthen Egypt’s higher education system, enhance its competitiveness and prepare qualified graduates to meet the country’s development needs.

For his part, Governor Rashad highlighted the university’s role in supporting local development and providing applied solutions to challenges facing the community.

University President Hanigel said Suez University was pursuing a comprehensive strategy to modernise its facilities, expand academic programmes in line with labour market needs, and promote innovation and scientific research.
