Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Intel on Wednesday to launch joint initiatives aimed at raising artificial intelligence (AI) awareness and building digital skills nationwide.
Under the three-year agreement, the partnership aims to train 1 million citizens annually in foundational AI concepts while promoting safe technology usage and digital trust.
Highlighting AI as a cornerstone for economic competitiveness and enhanced public services, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hendy noted that the second phase of Egypt’s National AI Strategy (2025–2030) focuses on maximising the technology’s economic and social impact.
Gisselle Ruiz Lanza, Intel’s General Manager for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, stated that the collaboration reflects a shared goal of democratizing AI access through Intel’s “AI for Citizens” initiative. The partnership also includes the “Digital Trust for All” framework, along with a dedicated program to train 1,500 certified instructors, or 500 annually, over the next three years.
Additional initiatives will target youth skill-building, university and vocational student career prep, workforce reskilling, and tech-driven decision-making tools for government officials.
To support execution, the MoU outlines technical workshops on Intel’s latest computing infrastructure and offers support for standout participants in an annual AI hackathon, including pathways to compete in Intel’s global AI Impact Festival.
