Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met on Sunday on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
The two top diplomats discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and the latest regional developments of mutual concern.
The ministers welcomed the significant progress in Egyptian-Indian relations in recent years and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership launched in 2023, in a manner that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples.
They also welcomed the outcomes of the first round of the strategic dialogue between the two countries’ foreign ministers, held in New Delhi in October 2025. They stressed the importance of building on its outcomes and maintaining the positive momentum in bilateral relations by stepping up high-level visits and holding regular consultation mechanisms between the two countries.
The ministers also exchanged views on regional developments amid the rapidly changing situation in the region, stressing the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts and supporting political solutions to de-escalate tensions.
Abdelatty underscored the need to avoid military escalation, give priority to the diplomatic track and ensure freedom of navigation.
