Egypt’s Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to support labour market policies, improve the working environment, and promote employment and productivity.
This came during the minister’s meeting on Tuesday with a delegation from the ILO Office in Cairo, headed by Eric Oechslin, to discuss a number of areas of joint cooperation, foremost among them the final executive arrangements for preparing Egypt’s National Decent Work Programme.
Discussions covered the programme’s main pillars, including expanding employment opportunities, strengthening social protection, promoting social dialogue, and upholding fundamental principles and rights at work, ahead of the programme’s official launch in the first quarter of 2027.
The two sides agreed to prepare an implementation plan and a specific timetable for completing the programme.
The National Decent Work Programme serves as the ILO’s framework for cooperation with its member states. It is based on the priorities of governments and focuses on social dialogue, decent work and sustainable development.
Oechslin praised the constructive cooperation between the two sides and expressed the ILO’s commitment to completing the programme as a key step towards advancing economic and social development and promoting decent work for all production partners.
