Egypt’s Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir met Hungarian Transport and Investment Minister David Vitézy at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various transport sectors.

Minister El-Wazir highlighted the deep ties binding Egypt and Hungary and expressed Egypt’s interest in expanding cooperation, particularly in railways.

For his part, Vitézy praised Egypt’s development, especially its transport sector, and expressed his country’s interest in exchanging expertise.

He also praised Egypt’s modern transport network, including the Light Rail Transit (LRT), monorail and electric high-speed train.

The talks covered developments in existing railway cooperation and ways to expand bilateral cooperation in public transport, railways and green transport, as well as exchange expertise and make use of both countries’ capabilities.

Following the meeting, the two ministers travelled by ACTA buses from the ministry to the Government District station of the East Nile Monorail.

El-Wazir highlighted the integration of modern urban planning and transport infrastructure in the NAC, which is served by the LRT, East Nile Monorail, ACTA buses and Capital Taxi.

The ministers inspected the Government District station and its role in serving government employees and visitors.

Vitézy later travelled on the East Nile Monorail to Al-Fattah Al-Aleem Mosque station, where he was briefed on the system and its role in facilitating transportation across the new capital.

He praised Egypt’s major infrastructure projects and its efforts to develop transport facilities according to international standards.
