Egypt is participating in the World Food Forum 2026 in Rome with a delegation headed by Bassam Rady, Egypt’s Ambassador to Italy and permanent representative to UN organisations in Rome.
Speaking to Italian media, Rady said the forum is being held amid highly complex global challenges facing food security, making it an important platform for advancing agricultural and food systems through science, innovation and investment.
He stressed the importance of international co-operation to secure grain and food supply chains and ensure that food reaches communities, particularly those most in need.
Rady also highlighted the impact of ongoing crises and armed conflicts on food security in the Middle East and Africa.
He outlined Egypt’s efforts to develop its agricultural production and strengthen food security, as well as its longstanding role in delivering food supplies and humanitarian assistance to areas affected by crises across the region.
The forum, held at the headquarters of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in Rome, brings together heads of state and government, agriculture ministers and other officials from around the world.
Its main agenda focuses on three key areas: global action to secure supply chains, science and innovation, and private investment under the Hand-in-Hand Initiative for food security.
