In a first-of-its-kind initiative reflecting the boost of bilateral ties, Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif and State Secretary of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Niels Annen, signed on Monday a joint declaration of intent to develop Egyptian-German technical schools.

Abdel Latif said the agreement marks a new phase in Egyptian-German cooperation on technical education, emphasising the ministry’s commitment to adopting international best practices and expanding partnerships with the private sector to equip students with skills that meet local and global labour market demands.

He added that the Egyptian-German technical school model supports Egypt Vision 2030 by improving the quality of technical education, developing human capital, and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.

Annen, for his part, said the declaration reflects both countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in technical education and vocational training.

He added that the initiative will improve education quality, align graduates’ skills with labour market needs, strengthen accreditation and quality assurance systems, and expand private-sector participation, creating broader employment opportunities for Egyptian youth.

The declaration aims to enhance young people’s professional skills, creating specialized job opportunities for technical education graduates in both Egypt and Germany.

It also provides for the joint development of Egyptian-German technical schools as a scalable model within Egypt’s education system.

Under the agreement, Egypt will provide the necessary facilities and personnel, while Germany will support the project through development cooperation, curriculum development, teacher training, capacity building, and private-sector engagement.
