Sisi, Mertz discuss ways to restore stability in ME

President reiterates firm rejection of plans to displace Palestinians

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi extended on Thursday his warm congratulations to Chancellor Friedrich Merz on his well-deserved victory in the German elections – an outcome that reflects the confidence and trust of the German people.

The President wished the new government success in its ambitious plans to consolidate Germany’s pivotal role on the European and international arenas, particularly during this period of profound global and regional transformation.

In a phone conversation President Sisi initiated yesterday with the German chancellor, the president emphasized the pressing need to uphold the principles of international law and the established norms of global diplomacy – values that align with Germany’s longstanding commitment to international stability and cooperation, said the PresidencySpokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shennawy.

The German Chancellor expressed his appreciation for the kind gesture and emphasised his country’s commitment to maintaining close relations with Egypt. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthening and deepening bilateral relations in all fields, particularly economic, trade, and investment, as well as enhancing development cooperation, thus strengthening ties between the two friendly peoples.

The two leaders also exchanged views on key regional and international developments, Shennawy said.

He noted that President Sisi provided an update on Egypt’s efforts to reach ceasefire in Gaza, reiterating the urgent need for the international community to push for an immediate end to military operations and ensure the sustained delivery of humanitarian aid.

He firmly rejected any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land and stressed the importance of accelerating international recognition of the State of Palestine in support of the two-state solution.

The call also touched on the developments in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia, as well as ways to restore stability in the Middle East. The German Chancellor affirmed his country’s commitment to continuing coordination and consultation with Egypt to restore regional calm and peace.
