CAIRO – Assistant Housing Minister for Technical Affairs Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim discussed with the adviser to France’s Foreign Affairs and Europe Minister, Gérard Wolf, ways of boosting cooperation in the smart and sustainable cities domain.

The meeting came on the sidelines of the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF12) currently hosted by Cairo.

Ibrahim said the housing ministry is working on establishing smart and sustainable cities that secure citizens’ needs through technological progress and providing eco-friendly solutions that promote sustainable living and reduce your carbon footprint as well as stimulate innovation and education.

He said Housing Minister Sherif el Sherbini took part yesterday in launching the National Strategy for Smart Cities that aims at developing previous generations of new cities and setting up new smart cities.

The National Strategy for Smart Cities is a comprehensive roadmap designed to transform Egypt’s urban landscape and propel the country towards a more sustainable, equitable, and technologically advanced future.

This groundbreaking strategy aims to leverage cutting-edge technologies to enhance urban services, improve the quality of life, and drive economic growth, positioning Egypt as a global leader in smart city development.

It is developed through a collaboration between the Egyptian Ministry of Housing and the World Bank, and funded by Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Economic Cooperation (SECO).
