Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Sunday from his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, to discuss regional developments and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote security and stability in the region.
The call came as part of continued consultations between the two countries. The ministers exchanged views and assessments on the latest regional developments and efforts to contain the escalation.
Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s intensive efforts to contain the regional escalation, stressing the importance of returning to the negotiating track between the United States and Iran. He also underscored the need to prioritise diplomatic solutions and create the conditions necessary for negotiations to resume, helping to ease tensions, prevent the conflict from widening, and safeguard regional security and stability.
The two ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Palestinian issue and the latest situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as developments in Sudan, Libya and Lebanon. They discussed efforts to address the ongoing crises and support political settlement efforts.
The two sides agreed to maintain close co-ordination and consultations between Egypt and France and to work together to support regional security and stability.
