Egypt is looking forward to establishing a stronger and more impactful partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to support the country’s development and investment priorities, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk said.
During a meeting with AIIB President Zou Jiayi on Monday, Kouchouk said Egypt’s strategic location positions it to play a pivotal role in strengthening economic and investment connectivity between Asia and Africa.
He also expressed strong interest in expanding co-operation on sustainable infrastructure projects that are resilient to climate change, stressing that diversifying financing sources and instruments would support development efforts while reducing their costs.
Kouchouk called for more innovative financing mechanisms to stimulate private investment in priority sectors, noting that Egypt is working to deepen its partnerships with international institutions to mobilise more concessional financing and financing mechanisms that encourage private-sector participation.
He added that Egypt offers promising opportunities for co-operation with the AIIB on green transformation projects, as well as regional connectivity and transport
