Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gombalat reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to localising advanced manufacturing technologies and deepening domestic production in partnership with leading international firms. The move is part of efforts to reduce import dependence and strengthen national industrial capabilities.

His remarks came during a meeting on Saturday with Luc Mestrallet, Chairman of the Franco-German company Hanz, and Sherif Barakat, CEO of Thales Egypt, to discuss prospects for joint co-operation in the defence industries sector.

He asserted that the ministry’s primary mandate remains meeting the Armed Forces’ requirements for various types of ammunition, weapons, and military equipment.

Discussions focused on the potential for joint manufacturing with the Franco-German company, leveraging the technological, industrial, and technical capabilities of the ministry’s affiliated companies and production units.

Particular attention was given to Abu Zaabal Company for Specialised Industries (Military Factory 300), one of the most advanced military industrial complexes.

Gombalat noted that the meeting reflects the ministry’s ongoing efforts to expand co-operation with global partners and enhance the transfer of advanced technologies into its industrial base.

For his part, Mestrallet expressed his company’s keenness to strengthen its partnership with the Ministry of Military Production, while the French side affirmed its interest in expanding co-operation during the current period.
