Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilem held a series of meetings with leading international companies and institutions during IFAT Munich 2026, one of the world’s largest exhibitions for water and environmental technologies. Discussions focused on cooperation in smart water management, desalination, wastewater treatment and reuse, rehabilitation of pumping stations, and improving energy efficiency in water projects. Opportunities for technology transfer and localization of water-related industries in Egypt were also explored, alongside building long-term partnerships to support national projects.
Sweilem invited global partners to participate in the 9th Cairo Water Week and the International Exhibition and Conference on Water, Sanitation, and Energy, scheduled in Cairo in October 2026. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with international partners, exchanging expertise, and advancing technology localization to enhance sustainability and water efficiency.
The minister highlighted Egypt’s strategic focus on expanding wastewater reuse, scaling up desalination to support food production, and modernizing the water system under the “Water 2.0” framework. IFAT Munich is recognized as a premier global platform for innovations in water management, drinking water and wastewater treatment, recycling, and environmental sustainability.
