Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati received Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service for Peace, Security and Defense, on Tuesday. The meeting came as part of regular coordination between Egypt and the European Union and a shared desire to strengthen cooperation.
Abdel-Aati praised the momentum in Egypt-EU relations, stressing the importance of advancing economic, trade, and investment ties under the comprehensive strategic partnership. He highlighted Egypt’s efforts to support regional security and stability, pointing to intensive contacts aimed at de-escalation and promoting diplomacy as the only path to avoid further instability.
Fries commended Egypt’s active role in reducing tensions and its pivotal contribution to regional stability. He welcomed Egypt’s initiatives to contain crises and reinforce diplomatic solutions. He also underlined the strategic partnership between Egypt and the EU as a cornerstone for expanding cooperation across multiple fields to serve shared interests.
